About IMSA

The Indian Meteorological Society (IMS) was formed in 1957 during a session of the Indian Science Congress in Calcutta. Dr. S. Basu, the Director-General of Observations was the first President of the Society. The IMS Ahmedabad chapter (IMSA) was formed in the late-1970s under the leadership of Dr. M.S. Narayanan.

History

Objective

Our goal is to partner the scientific community in improving understanding of the impact of weather events and climatic trends on local communities and also to promote awareness of meteorology and climate science among the general Ahmedabad community.

Mission

Facilitating improved understanding of impact of weather events and climatic trends on local communities through workshops and conferences. Promoting awareness of meteorological phenomena among the general Ahmedabad community through outreach programs, exhibitions and tutorials.
